De Belgian Society for Occupational Hygiene is de Belgische wetenschappelijke vereniging voor de arbeidshygiëne. De eerste bijeenkomst vond plaats op 8 juni 1989. Sinds 4 juni 1991 heeft ze de vorm van een v.z.w.
BSOH is gewijd aan de discipline en de toepassing van de arbeidshygiëne.
De definitie die gebruikt wordt door de International Occupational Hygiene Association is: "Arbeidshygiëne is de discipline van het anticiperen, herkennen, evalueren en beheersen van gevaren voor de gezondheid in de werkomgeving met als doel de bescherming van de gezondheid en het welzijn van de werknemers en de gemeenschap in het algemeen."

At all workplaces, one has to deal with non-ionizing radiation (NIS). There are different types of NIS: ultraviolet radiation, infrared radiation, laser radiation, electromagnetic fields ... Some radiation is visible, some radiation is not. Non-ionizing radiation can be dangerous. The health effects depend on the nature of the radiation, the radiation energy, the intensity, and the duration of irradiation. This seminar will cover the health effects of different types of NIS as well as examples of how to identify health risks linked to exposure to NIS.
