La Belgian Society for Occupational Hygiene est l'association scientifique belge pour l'hygiène du travail. La première réunion a eu lieu le 8 juin 1989. Depuis le 4 juin 1991 elle a la forme d'une a.s.b.l.
La BSOH est dévouée à la discipline et l'application de l'hygiène du travail.
L'International Occupational Hygiene Association en donne la définition suivante:
"L'hygiène du travail est la discipline qui anticipe, reconnait, évalue et contrôle les risques pour la santé dans le cadre du travail, dans le but de protéger la santé et le bien-être des travailleurs et de sauvegarder la communauté au sens large."

At all workplaces, one has to deal with non-ionizing radiation (NIS). There are different types of NIS: ultraviolet radiation, infrared radiation, laser radiation, electromagnetic fields ... Some radiation is visible, some radiation is not. Non-ionizing radiation can be dangerous. The health effects depend on the nature of the radiation, the radiation energy, the intensity, and the duration of irradiation. This seminar will cover the health effects of different types of NIS as well as examples of how to identify health risks linked to exposure to NIS.
