The Belgian Society for Occupational Hygiene is the Belgian scientific association for occupational hygiene. The first meeting took place on 8 June 1989. Since 4 June 1991 it operates as a non-profit association.
BSOH is dedicated to the discipline and the application of occupational hygiene.

BSOH ondersteunt om de 2 jaar PREBES, de vakvereniging voor Preventie-Adviseurs Arbeidsveiligheid in Vlaanderen, door het aanleveren van presentaties gerelateerd naar arbeidshygiene op hun PRENNE conferenties.
De nieuwe Europese standaard EN 689 voor ‘het beoordelen van de blootstelling aan chemische stoffen in de werkplekatmosfeer en toetsing aan de grenswaarde’ is sinds mei 2018 beschikbaar. Deze vervangt de sterk verouderde 1995/2006 versies. De nieuwe norm maakt een efficiëntere en meer betrouwbare risicobeoordeling mogelijk. De toepassing van EN689 is opgenomen in de Belgische Codex over het welzijn op het werk.
De beoordeling van beroepsmatige blootstelling aan chemische agentia op basis van luchtmonsters vereist verschillende procedures. EN689 bepaalt dat die door een beoordelaar moeten worden uitgevoerd (art. 4.). Dat is een persoon die voldoende is opgeleid en ervaring heeft met arbeidshygiënische beginselen, werk- en meettechnieken, om het deel van de beoordeling dat hij uitvoert volgens de stand van de techniek uit te voeren (art. 3.1.1.).
Het doel van deze cursus is de vereiste minimumcompetenties voor beoordelaars aan te bieden.

Topic: Occupational exposures significantly contribute to the whole ‘exposome’ of persons. EXIMIOUS (www.eximious-h2020.eu) and EPHOR (www.ephor-project.eu) are two European projects of the European Human Exposome Network (EHEN, www.humanexposome.eu), with an extensive focus on how work exposures contribute to the holistic exposome. Both projects are involved in implementing/developing novel tools for occupational hygiene assessments, both for respiratory as for skin exposure, with a focus on particles, semi-volatiles and volatile compounds. In this webinar, we will present the EXIMIOUS/EPHOR experience of developing and applying novel occupational hygiene tools (dermal patches, sensors and imaging techniques) for exposure assessment in the exposome context.
