Content: The BSOH is starting a new initiative with the aim of bringing occupational hygienists together to exchange experiences and learn from each other. Specifically, information moments will be organized in a company, during which the occupational hygienist of the company will give an explanation about a certain occupational hygiene topic that the company is proud of, a kind of "best practice". In addition to exchanging knowledge and experience, it is also the intention to (further) expand your network in the world of occupational hygiene.
The Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services company will kick off on 29 October 2020. During two sessions, Tom Van de Voorde, safety officer and occupational hygienist (and BSOH Board member), will discuss a number of prevention measures that are typical for the pharmaceutical sector, but that can also be used in other places.
In the pharmaceutical sector, powdery products are regularly treated with very low limit values. These limit values vary from 1000 µg/m³ to values lower than 0.1 µg/m³. Keeping the exposure for workers below these limits is therefore quite a challenge. Measuring exposure also requires specific methods. During the two half seminar days, a number of techniques will be presented that can be used to control exposure. The specific measurement strategy (SMEPAC protocol) for pharmaceutical products will also be discussed. A guided tour is also provided.
